Testing Information
As a Texas public charter school, our district administers required state and local assessments while using them thoughtfully to support student growth, inform instruction, and cultivate a lasting love of learning. The overview below is organized by school level.
Circle Kindergarten Progress Monitoring (KPM)
A comprehensive assessment tool that evaluates multiple developmental domains throughout the school year. It provides teachers with actionable data to tailor instruction to individual student needs.
Frequency: Three times per year (Beginning, Middle, End)
Texas Primary Reading Inventory (TPRI)
Identifies early reading difficulties, monitors progress, and helps teachers plan targeted instruction.
Frequency: Three times per year (Beginning, Middle, End)
STAAR Interim Assessments
Used to monitor student progress and identify gaps in mastering grade-level content.
Frequency: Once per semester
STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness)
Evaluates student mastery of grade-level curriculum (TEKS) and measures annual academic growth.
Frequency: Spring Semester
STAAR Alternate (STAAR ALT)
Designed for students with significant cognitive disabilities to measure academic achievement aligned with state standards.

Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS)
The Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) is an annual state assessment administered in Texas public schools to measure the progress of emergent bilingual students in acquiring English. TELPAS evaluates students’ proficiency across four domains: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
The assessment helps educators understand each student’s level of English language development and informs instructional decisions to better support language acquisition in the classroom. TELPAS results also ensure that schools are meeting state and federal requirements for supporting emergent bilingual learners while fostering their continued academic growth across all subject areas.
Audience: Emergent bilingual students in grades K–12
Frequency: Spring Semester
STAAR Interim Assessments

7th Grade Reading Assessment
Based on 6th-grade STAAR reading results, this assessment identifies students who may need additional reading support.
Frequency: Beginning of the school year
STAAR Interim Assessments
Used to monitor student progress and identify gaps in mastering grade-level content.
Frequency: Once per semester
STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) Exams
Measure mastery in core subjects required for graduation: Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology, and U.S. History.
(Texas students must pass five required EOC exams to earn their high school diploma)
Frequency: Administered by course (typically semester-based)
Note: Changes to the English II EOC are anticipated beginning Fall 2027.
STAAR Alternate (STAAR ALT EOC)
For students with significant cognitive disabilities, aligned to state curriculum standards.
Frequency: Based on course enrollment
Credit by Exam (CBE)
Credit by Exam (CBE) is an option that allows students to demonstrate mastery of a subject by passing an exam instead of taking the full course.

PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test)
A qualifying exam for National Merit scholarships that also provides official SAT practice and serves as a measure of college readiness and AP potential.

SAT
A nationally recognized college entrance exam offered free to all 11th-grade students in the district. Scores may provide opportunities for scholarships and academic recognition.

Classic Learning Test (CLT 10)
A classical education-based assessment featuring foundational texts and authors. Students who take the exam become eligible for specific CLT10 awards, with top-performing sophomores eligible for the $2,500 CLT10 National Award.

Advanced Placement (AP) Exams
Aristoi offers up to five Advanced Placement (AP) courses designed to strengthen college readiness, enhance academic achievement, and provide opportunities for students to earn college credit through rigorous examinations.
Audience: 11th–12th Grade
Frequency: Spring Semester (May)
SAT School Day
A nationally recognized college entrance exam offered to 12th grade students. Scores may provide opportunities for scholarships and academic recognition.
Audience: 12th Grade Option
Frequency: Fall
Classic Learning Test (CLT)
An optional college entrance exam that emphasizes the foundations of classical education—logic, reasoning, and reading—drawing upon excerpts from great works of literature, with particular emphasis on logical reasoning within the quantitative section.
Audience: 11th–12th Grade
Frequency: Once per semester
ACT
College entrance exam with an added science component to demonstrate college readiness.
Audience: 11th–12th Grade
Frequency: Once per semester
TSIA (Texas Success Initiative Assessment)
Determines college readiness for entry into Texas public colleges. A student may qualify for an exemption based on acceptable college readiness scores from the SAT or ACT.
Audience: 12th Grade
Frequency: Three Saturday administrations per year
Cost: Offered free of charge for registered Aristoi students
ASVAB CEP (Armed Forces Vocational Aptitude Battery Career Exploration Program)
Provides aptitude and interest assessments for career planning, including military pathways.
Audience: 10th–12th Grade
Frequency: Fall Semester
Cost: Free
CLEP (College-Level Examination Program) (Coming Soon)
Allows students to earn college credit by demonstrating subject mastery. Preparation courses through modernstates.org may earn you a voucher to take the exam for free.

National Latin Exam (NLE)
The National Latin Exam is offered to students enrolled in Latin I and above and is designed to promote and celebrate the study of the Latin language, literature, and Roman culture. The exam reinforces students’ understanding of vocabulary, grammar, mythology, history, and classical civilization while encouraging excellence in the liberal arts.
Participation provides students with an opportunity to measure their individual progress against national standards and to be recognized for academic achievement. High-performing students may earn certificates, medals, and eligibility for scholarships, fostering both confidence and a deeper appreciation for the classical tradition.
Audience: Latin I students and above
