What is Public Health?

The Texas Department of State Health Services believes that public health partners make the greatest impact on school health issues when following the "Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child'' approach. Research indicates that by addressing young people’s health, schools can improve student performance. Providing programs and resources focused on establishing lifelong health patterns that they will carry over into adulthood is beneficial in preventing disease & injury, improving overall health, and enhancing the quality of life.
