Mrs. Camper's Music
Music is the language of the soul and speaks to people of all ages and cultures. It is an integral part of the very essence of who we are, whether we realize it or not. It is my goal to help every student recognize the interweaving of music and rhythm in their own lives, community, and generation, and even in cultures from around the world and throughout all of time. But more importantly, I want every student to love music!
UPCOMING NEEDS/EVENTS:Aristoi's Got Talent: DATE CHANGED!Thursday, May 24, 6:30-8:00pm Everyone is invited to enjoy our talent show! Students in grades 3-8 worked hard and auditioned to be in the show. Some faculty will perform, too - however, only the students will be judged and be eligible to receive prizes. (Sorry, Mr. Chance!)Doors will open at 6:00pm, and there will be food for sale. We will be taking donations at the door to help cover the costs of this talent show. $1/person is suggested. |
In music class, students of all grades will:
- Learn basic elements of music: rhythm, melody, harmony, form, timbre, notation, etc.
- Express and perform using their bodies: dancing, singing, playing instruments
- Listen and evaluate music: many styles from early history to present day
- Learn about history and culture: key composers at major time periods, American traditional, world cultures - and how they shaped styles of music
In keeping with the Classical Education model, music will be rich in history and language, and other classroom topics of study will be integrated into music when possible.

Communication with Mrs. Camper
Communication will most often be through email or notes sent home in your child's folder. Any concerns I have for individual students are typically communicated through "notes home". I strongly encourage you to communicate with me by email if you or your student have questions or concerns, or set up a time to discuss in person during my conference period. I look forward to working with your student and teaming with you to build a positive relationship between all of us - so that the end result is that the students in music class learn about music and appreciate it.
