ACA UNVEILINGS ...

November 3, 2011

Dear Aristoi Families and Friends,

I am pleased to present our new crest and logotype which accompanies our new name, Aristoi Classical Academy. I will give a brief description of the elements of the crest and their meanings.

The name Aristoi comes from the ancient Greek meaning: the best, noble character, and a right nature. The motto depicted on the crest echoes our mission statement: Truth (Verum), Goodness (Bonum), and Beauty (Pulchrum).

A study of heraldry reveals the following about the meanings associated with our crest:
The book holding these English and Latin terms denotes the Great Books that we study so
that students may join the “Great Conversation” with famous writers, philosophers, and
         thinkers throughout history.

The shield itself represents protection, both in the sense of a defense against ignorance and
in the defense of the American Republic.

Orange signifies worthy ambition. In the case of Aristoi, our ambition is to develop a passion
for learning in our students and to help our students become men and women of virtuous
        character.

White and gray signify peace and sincerity.

The torch and flame symbolize Aristoi’s commitment to spread the light of knowledge and to
ignite a passion for learning in each student.

The crest and logotype are symbolic of our goals and inspirations. It is my hope that the new crest and logo will assist in the development of our School’s identity as a powerful force in the education of children.

Sincerely,

Brenda Davidson
Headmaster
